Vermont Home Radiators. Replace those nasty old baseboard and cast iron radiators with a highly efficient hot water radiator with a Vermont Home Radiator.

How do I know what size radiator I need for my room?

Vermont Home Radiators.

There are several web sites for calculating BTU requirements for a room.

These programs look at geographical location, house construction, insulation, windows and doors and if the room is on an exterior wall or interior and other variables.

Below is a calculation to get you a ballpark BTU value. You will need to calculate the Square foot area of the room.

Example: If I have a room 12 x 14, multiply the 12 x 14 = 168 square foot. Now multiply the 168 square foot by one of the “House Age Climate BTU Per square foot” values. Let’s use the “New House in a cold climate” that has an average BTU per square foot of 50 BTU. Now multiply 168 square foot by 50 BTU 168 X 50 = 8,400 Your room requires 8,400 BTU to heat it.

House Age Climate  BTU Per square foot.

Old House      Warm Climate         35 BTU

New House     Warm Climate        30 BTU

Old House       Cold Climate         60 BTU

New House     Cold  Climate         50 BTU

I designed my radiators to heat an average room in most homes. Most bedrooms in homes are around 12 x 12, 12 x 14 or 14 x 14.

Living rooms and family areas larger than 14 x 14 I would suggest using two radiators spread out in the room to give more even heating in the room.

Refer to the Installation Manual for installation and plumbing drawings. Or feel free to call or email us for more information.

Note: Always consult a heating professional to evaluate your home BTU requirements.

Room Size BTU values

These BTU calculations are estimates to provide a general BTU value of what your room BTU requirements could be.

It is always recommended to have a professional calculate your BTU requirement.

The 24" Radiator  approximately puts out 9,400 BTU using 180 Degree hot water at 1 GPM.

The 36" Radiator  approximately puts out 11,800 BTU using 180 Degree hot water at 1 GPM.
